1. Nature of the Service
Bergen Residents Directory is a private reference service. It describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and directory collections relevant to Bergen, New Jersey. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with a public office, court, or record custodian.
2. Permitted Use
Use the service only for lawful purposes. You may not use it, or material reached through it, to:
- Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
- Find someone protected by a restraining or protective order
- Commit identity theft or fraud
- Make FCRA-regulated decisions (credit, employment, tenant, insurance)
- Scrape, copy, or republish site content at scale
- Interfere with the site's operation or security
3. No Consumer Reports
Bergen Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Neither material on this service nor a result returned by a linked tool is a consumer report. Do not use it to make a decision about credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated purpose.
4. Linked Resources
Government portals and independent services, including sponsored search tools, have separate terms and policies. We do not control their content, availability, pricing, or data practices.
5. No Warranty
The service is offered "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that content is accurate, complete, or current, or that a linked portal will operate or return a correct result.
6. Liability Limit
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of this service or a linked resource, including decisions made from a record found through it.
7. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold the operators of this service harmless from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from your misuse of the service or breach of these terms.
8. Intellectual Property
The original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. You may link to a page and quote a short excerpt with attribution. Republishing complete pages or systematically copying content is not allowed.
9. Term Updates
We may revise these terms by publishing an updated version here. Continued use after publication accepts the update.
10. Access Restrictions
We may restrict or block access, without notice and in our discretion, for a violation of these terms or misuse of the service.
11. Governing Law
New Jersey law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Public-records access discussed by the service is subject to the New Jersey Open Public Records Act, N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq., and its exemptions.
12. Severability
If a provision of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
